My tips for wasting time….

November 18th, 2007 by virtualsanity

I’ve been inspired by Donna-Maries post on getting motivated!  This morning, I have been doing everything possible to avoid working and I had a little chuckle to myself when I read this post (I’m guilty of lacking motivation this morning).  So, in the spirit of procrastination, here are my tips for wasting time when you should be working….

1) make yourself a coffee, grab the nearest mag, put your feet up and and relax!  If you are anything like me, before you had children you might have actually had time to READ a magazine, not leaving it sitting on the coffee table for weeks untouched.  Give yourself 30 mins (or even 15), grab a biccie and read the article that grabbed your attention on the cover and tempted you buy the magazine in the first place. TIP - for extra time wasting potential, put the telly on - there’s sure to be something interesting that will keep you glued to the lounge for another 15 minutes…

2) Check out e-bay!  With the festive season fast approaching, who really has the time to spend scouring the shopping malls for that perfect gift for Aunty Beryl.  E-bay is the answer.  There are bargains and treasures galore on ebay!  Grab your christmas shopping list and spend some time browsing - you’ll be AMAZED at what you’ll find.  Better still, find something around the house to sell on ebay and earn some extra cash to justify your spending!!  E-bay is fun, interesting, and immensely time consuming - perfect for avoiding that yucky work task you’ve been putting off.

3) Spring Cleaning.  Yes, that’s right, I said Spring Cleaning.  The lesser of two evils - when you are running out of time wasting ideas and almost resort to "working", consider the benefits of spring cleaning.  Last week on a rainy afternoon, I went through all the baby clothes AND the baby toys with the aim of clearing out much needed storage space.  In the process of sorting through mountains of clothing, I discovered many items were "too good to give away" so guess what I did with them - refer to point number 2, yes, I’m selling them on e-bay!  So not only did I waste 2 hours sorting clothes, later on that evening, I spent another 2 hours listing them on ebay!  It was a bit of an effort I have to admit, but I’m hoping it will pay off (literally).

So, on that note, I’m off to hang the washing out, check my auction items on ebay, ring a friend I’ve been meaning to call, and then I’ll get to work (after lunch of course).

Happy time wasting!!
